Know first your new home before you love it!

Mabuhay!
First of all let me remind you that sometimes you never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory that you wish you could experience again.
Who would have guessed that an ordinary girl’s life would change drastically? That early morning at 3.30 when I stepped my foot for the first time in my life abroad. Yes, Manila, Philippine! Experiencing the first flight for 4 hours and landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport wondered me what would I faced later in this new place, yet my survival friends (Mandala and Rangga) so excited to be in a new place. In the midst of hesitance, we met Mark and Fatima who in duty for pick us up to our new place which become our new home. Another 4 hours we spent to reach our new home which is CLSU (Central Luzon State University) and we had RSTC as our hostel for one month in Philippine which located in the CLSU area. However 6 people that came from Indonesia but in different region was waiting us at CLSU. Kak Restu, Riza, Zainun, Rara, Farwa and Iqra were my new team in the new place. Some people said that it will be hard to meet new people who will involve in our life, who will always there wherever you are, but I found them. The people who became “my partners in educational”, thus the journey has begun!

Then question arose, for what me, Mandala and Rangga went to Philippine especially CLSU that I mentioned before as “new home”.  The answer would be for SEAMEO program which is SEA-Teacher deals with Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia. Regarding to the aim of the program purposes, we practice our teaching skills in CLSU to develop our teaching skills and pedagogy, practice our English skills and gain a broader regional and world view. Since we are from Bali which seemed English as Foreign Language, thus we need to practice our English skills. Moreover, we are the Ganesha Univeristy of Education (UNDIKSHA) which will become an English teacher in the future and practice is really needed. FYI, SEA-Teacher program not only exchange to Philippine but also Thailand, what a great opportunity to joined this kind of educational program. That’s why how lucky I am joining this program. As the responsibility of the receiving university to provide a great experience, then I met Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy who as the SEA-Teacher coordinator and Ma’am Yasmin who as the college secretary also Ma’am Lalaine Ann F. Imanuel who as our mentor or supervisor. She guided us and led us to the right path during the program.

That gloomy morning became the witness of our first experience adapt with the real different environmental culture. We attended the flag ceremony and what I found that “differences”. A lot of differences were found although in formal situation like flag ceremony, yet differences make everything will be unique right? We also met the president of CLSU who were introduced us as the new members of CLSU family and he greeted us using Bahasa, such an honor to be in front of the CLSU family and greeted by their president. CLSU Hymn became the closing part from the flag ceremony and then it finished. No longer after that Sir. Gaboy, Ma’am Yasmin and Ma’am Lalaine invited us for the campus orientation, we were going around the CLSU and learned about the campus

Central Luzon State University is located at Munoz, Neuva Ecija, Philippine. It covers 600 Ha area. Such a great University, it was so cool. It has five hostel and eight colleges in it. CLSU is a national college for agriculture and fisheries which become the number one in Philippine.  Central Luzon State University (CLSU), one of the renowned and prestigious state-institutions of higher learning in the country, it is the lead agency of the Muñoz Science Community and the seat of the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC). It started as a farm school, the Central Luzon Agricultural School (CLAS), on April 12, 1907 wherein the students learned the rudiments of better farming methods, agricultural mechanics and homemaking arts. These activities soon evolved into a model vocational-agricultural teaching and learning program which became its legacy to the country in so far as the CLAS experience was concerned. As a result, CLAS became a byword for productive farming methods.
CLAS was converted into the Central Luzon Agricultural College (CLAC) on December 31, 1950, the first state institution in the country to offer a four-year curriculum for training teachers of vocational agriculture and eventually became known as “the mother of vocational agricultural schools” in the country. CLAC became the Central Luzon State University on June 18, 1964 by virtue of Republic Act No. 4067. As embodied in its enabling act, the “University shall primarily give professional and technical training in agriculture and mechanic arts besides providing advanced instruction and promoting research in literature, philosophy, the sciences, technology and art”. To date, CLSU remains as one of the premier institutions of agriculture in Southeast Asia known for its breakthrough researches in aquatic culture (pioneer in the sex reversal of tilapia), ruminant, crops, orchard, and water management, living through its vision of becoming “a world-class National Research University for science and technology in agriculture and allied fields”. Additionally, it is also the first comprehensive state university to undergo institutional accreditation and is declared Cultural Property of the Philippines with the code of PH-03-0027 due to its high historical, cultural, academicals, and agricultural importance to the nation. What amazed me is that this university has field, forest area, a lot of trees and natural vibes
